'The fruits of my imagination': photographer gives fruits and vegetables a whole new life
French photographer Christel Jeanne breathes life into fruits and vegetables with her whimsical "portraits" from her series "The Fruits of my imagination". After earning her graduate degree in photography, Christel Jeanne began her photographic career, working in the shadow of photographers as a black and white printer for the Keystone agency where she discovered the world of printing from photographic glass plates. She then moved on to the esteemed Sygma photo agency to print for some of the finest photojournalists in the world. Jeanne then began working as a studio photographer for several studios including Louis Vuitton, where she learned to light for luxury brands. During this time she began to develop parallel personal projects such as "The Fruits of my imagination", "The Paris reflections" and "New York reflections. " She returned for a time to the world of photo agencies to launch PixPalace, a portal of photography in France which is today distributes nearly 100 photo agencies. Today Christel JEANNE works regularly on assignment for a variety of news magazines including Point de vue, Figaro Magazine, La Croix, Les Dossiers de la Recherche, L'Express, Aéroport Magazine, Palace Costes, and Grands Reportages. All the while very active in the photo studio and continuing to "talk to tomatoes," she searches the food markets and feels challenged by these unusual appetizers, these unlikely gourds, to invite her in to create this visual poetry. Jeanne puts them in scene, giving them a soul, bringing them to life, which invites the viewer to dream with the food on their plates. (christeljeanne.com) Chosen by the director of photography of Photo magazine, Christel's work is currently up for for Salon de la Photo's Zoom 2013 award for best emerging photographer.
