• Dum Laga Ke Haisha Review: Worth Its Weight

Business of Cinema - Fri 27 Feb, 2015 8:27 AM IST

The thing I liked most about Sharat Katariya’s love story is that it turns stereotypes on its head. It’s the early 90s, a time when CDs are about to replace audiocassettes and Kumar Sanu is still a rage. Katariya affectionately creates this milieu in Haridwar as we follow Prem Prakash Tiwari (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Sandhya (Bhumi Pednekar) through the trials of a marriage of unequals. Look out also for the holier-than-thou hypocritical ‘shakha pramukh’ who also serves as Prem’s chief advisor on how to deal with an unhappy marriage. By Dan Whitcomb LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A convicted drug dealer pleaded not guilty on Thursday to murdering a Hollywood studio executive whose remains were found buried in the California desert last year, and a defence lawyer said he would prove the case was "mutual combat," not homicide. John Lenzie Creech, who is already serving an eight-year prison term for sale of a controlled substance, was ordered back to court on March 26 for further proceedings in the high-profile case surrounding the murder of Gavin Smith. "Ultimately the defence will show that this was not a murder, that it was mutual combat between two men," attorney Alex Kessel told reporters outside court following the brief hearing. By Eric Kelsey and Lisa Richwine LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The number of people who watched Sunday's Oscars was down and the critics were less than impressed, but Hollywood's biggest night is still a top draw for television advertisers. Despite a 15 percent drop in viewership to 37.3 million, however, it is still worth the price tag for advertisers and broadcaster ABC, analysts said. "It's definitely a showcase place to be, and they (ABC) never have a problem selling it out year to year," said Steve Kalb, a director at ad agency Mullen. This year's telecast hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris commanded $1.9 million for 30 seconds of advertising time, up from last year's $1.76 million, the highest among awards shows.
