Mandy Patinkin lost the supporting actor award, but otherwise, it was a sweep of the TV drama statues for Showtime's "Homeland" at the Golden Globe Awards.

The series, which concluded its second season in December, earned Best Drama honors, and best lead actor and actress Golden Globes for stars Damian Lewis and Claire Danes.

The awards came for a season that was not as overwhelmingly positively received as the drama's debut season.

Though President Barack Obama has called himself a fan of the show, some fans and critics questioned the plausibility of several Season 2 plot points (the Brody/VP/pacemaker episode, specifically) and were frustrated with the emphasis on and direction of the Carrie and Brody relationship.

"Homeland" is scheduled to return for season three on September 29, 2013, though Showtime honcho David Nevins told reporters at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour this week that Lewis' long-term future with the series is up in the air.

"Everything on that show is vigorously debated, but if, after the end of that vigorous debate, (letting go of Lewis) made sense storywise, I could conceivably say yes to that, absolutely," Nevins said (via The Huffington Post).

Nevins also said he was aware of the criticisms of Season 2.

"Suspension of disbelief is the scaffolding all storytelling is based on, and I think there's a truth to the way (the show) is written, a truth to the characters that overcomes all," he said.

"The fact that people are that deeply engaged that there were things that we got away with Season 1 that we couldn't get away with (in Season 2) … I think it's a good thing for the health of the show, and I have enormous confidence in the people who write and perform that show that it's going to maintain at the very highest level."

Sunday's Globe wins followed September 2012 Emmy wins -- for the show's first season -- for Lewis, Danes and "Homeland" as the Outstanding Drama Series.
