DisneyWhat works in the movies doesn't always work in real life. Just ask Kristina Reed, who last night was kicked out of the Oscar ceremonies at Hollywood's Dolby Theater for trying a stunt featured in one of her films.
Reed is producer of the animated short subject "Paperman," which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Subject Sunday night. In "Paperman," a young man tries to get the attention of a pretty woman working in the office building next door by using paper airplanes.
When director John Kahrs took to the stage to accept the Oscar, Reed, sitting in the balcony, began sailing a tiny armada of paper planes towards the stage in celebration of the film's victory.
None of the planes were visible to folks watching on television, and they didn't hit those seated below, but security guards were not amused, and they escorted Reed out of the theater. While Reed reportedly protested her banishment, cooler heads soon prevailed, and within ten minutes, she was allowed to return to her seat for the rest of the presentation. One wonders is she'd have been sent home altogether if she were throwing spitballs instead.
