Rituparno Ghosh that brought back the focus on the Bengali middle class says director Madhur Bhandarkar. Excerpts
You don’t need to hold guns to be a revolutionary or change the society. Ritudaparno Ghosh was a filmmaker and his films did all the revolutionary work. His demise is a major loss to films and the society. Can’t even say too soon for his death… because revolutionaries should be immortal!
It was RituDa’s cinema that brought back the focus on the Bengali middle class. And while he did this, he wasn’t known as a regional cinema director (unfortunately, which happens with a lot of talented filmmakers in regional cinema). He was the Indian filmmaker with brilliant contributions to our 100 years of Hindi films. I have had the good fortune of meeting RituDa on a couple of occasions in the past.
He was always very warm, humble, with a great sense of humour and what vision for cinema. We always discussed films. I still remember our chat on world cinema and where we might be lacking.

The war between Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan just hot hotter. Here's the inside story
This is straight out of a Bollywood pot boiler adhering to the old adage that ‘Dushman ka dushman dost hota hai' (enemy’s enemy is a friend). And ofcourse, there is no better way of getting back at your enemy than favouring his ex-girlfriend.
The cold war between Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid khan just got icy cool with Khan’s ex Jaquiline Fernandes being cast in the much controversial ‘Kick’ opposite Salman Khan. While Jacky may be basking in the glory of this big-budget film, her ex-beau Sajid is not smiling. The insiders claim that there is no merit involved in casting Jacky when names of Deepika Padukone were in the fray. Sources say that this casting coup was directed towards his erstwhile friend Sajid Khan and Shirish Kunder. 'Kick' which is a remake of a South Indian film was announced with much fanfare last year with Shirish as the director. That was before Joker bombed. With the film, Shirish’sRead More »from How Jacky landed up in ‘Kick’

What was Mallika Sherawat thinking while making such statements at the Cannes Film Festival? Was it a quick way to cosy up to the International media?
Two days after Mallika Sherawat made the sweeping statements about India being a regressive society and the plight of Indian women is depressing; she is on a damage control mode. Her twitter handle which goes by @MallikaLA (What better way to show off her non-existent International status) says, “ I said Whats happening to women in India is regressive and depressing and I stand by it # RAPE”.
In an interview to the online edition of Variety edition, Mallika, with her fake accent emphasized why she has made a ‘conscious decision’ to divide her time between Los Angeles and India. No, she didn’t talk about her non-existent Bollywood career or the fact that no producer is casting her.
