  • Sridevi’s struggle with Hindi continues

This is not the first time Sridevi has a language supervisor for her film

Sridevi character in her comeback film ‘English Vinglish’ is quite close to the struggle the actress faced in her real life while working on Hindi films in Bollywood.

The south Indian actress had her bit of struggle with her Hindi when she stepped into Bollywood. Where on one side knowing and being fluent with Tamil made her dominance in South Indian cinema rather easy, her journey in Bollywood has had a lot of frictions because her command over Hindi was weak. Since she was not comfortable with Hindi, she always had a teacher by her side when shot her scenes.

So little wonder that on the sets of 'English Vinglish', Sridevi had lyricist Kausar Munir as her a full time language supervisor. Munir has worked on films like 'Ishaqzaade' and 'Ek Tha Tiger' and is director Gauri’s friend and took up the assignment to assist her.  "Gauri is a dear friend. During the pre-production, she called me and asked me to be the

  • Rahat records 'Saaiyan' in Dubai

'Heroine' music directors go an extra mile to record a song with the controversial singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan may not have visited India after his controversial detention at the Delhi airport last year, but that is not stopping filmmakers from making him sing for Bollywood. Kareena Kapoor-starrer Heroine's makers went, rather flew, the extra mile to record with the Sufi singer.

    Heroine: trailer

A few days ago, music director Salim Merchant recorded a track called 'Saaiyan' for the Madhur Bhandarkar film. Later, the composer duo (Salim-Sulaiman) felt that Rahat would be a better fit for the song. So they decided to re-record the song with him. However, there was a road¬block: "Visas for Pakistani artists take time to come through.

  • Why watching Salman is 'paisa wasool'

Everytime Salman swaggers into the screen, he is greeted with wolf whistles and catcalls. But what makes him so popular?

In 2008, Salman was giving interviews for 'Yuvvraaj' and after much chasing, he agreed to spare 10 minutes for a quick chat. But pinning this Khan down is never an easy task. So a wait of more than four hours ensued. There were whispers amongst the waiting journalists that 'bhai' must be very drunk and he needs time and mood to sober up. None the less, we waited for this whimsical star to show up sooner or later.

But then, you cannot be angry with this bad boy of Bollywood for long. When he walked into the room (after some five-hour wait), you cannot help admiring the star who never cared for image building exercises, no matter whether his career soared or dipped. Even Aamir Khan was quick to admit that he is a huge fan of Salman. "I am a fan of Salman Khan. I love watching his movies. I must tell you a secret. I do not know how to whistle. But whenever Salman

The promo of ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ lives up to its tagline and shows two 40-somethings romancing each other. In her acting debut, Farah Khan along with Boman Irani stir-out a love potion which is at its frothiest best as the two discover each other a little late in the day. Amidst teen-love stories and over-the-top family dramas, Bollywood has also experimented with mature love stories which take the off-beat route. Here’s a list of films which have broken the mould.

    Baghban:
In this Ravi Chopra tear-jerker, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini play a very much in love couple who have to bear separation because of their self-seeking children. Though the storyline is not new, the treatment and the chemistry between the couple was a winner and the song ‘Main Yahan Tu Wahan’, sung by Bachchan himself is the best example.
