Yahoo! Movies Review: Ajab Gazabb Love

Jackky BhagnaniCast: Jackky Bhagnani, Nidhi Subbaiah, Arjun Rampal, Kirron Kher

Direction: Sanjay Gadhvi

Rating: *

I am convinced 'Ajab Gazabb Love' was just made so that Jackky Bhagnani could add another film to his filmography. The plot follows the most predictable trajectory possible, there's not even a feeble attempt at anything original and it hardly qualifies as a romantic comedy.

Jackky BhagnaniRajveer Grewal (Jackky Bhagnani), spoilt rich kid who has built a dream car very innovatively called DC, falls hook, line and sinker for dusky girl coming down the escalator. Lovestruck hero manages to track down the 'escalator' girl with the help of a passing glance at a sociology book she is carrying. Before he can express his love, he realizes the object of his affection hates rich people and gets all high-pitched and angry when she sees them.

How must our hero amend this impossible situation? Quite simply by pretending to be a poor, educated and hard working mechanic. Predictably one lie leads to another and before we know it the entire Grewal family has to make commendable impersonations as banana-selling father, blind mother, alcoholic brother and so on.

Kirron Kher There are rare moments of genuine humour; like Kirron Kher's over-the-top acting (much like her filmi mother avatar in 'Om Shanti Om'), Arjun Rampal's double role as the girl's twin brothers and Arshad Warsi's cameo as the South-Indian servant pretending to be a rich friend.

The film is peppered with forgettable songs and a few close-ups of Jackky's well-sculpted body. Sanjay Gadhvi's film leaves much to be desired with a predictable love story, humour that often falls flat, performances that is completely average and below par music/lyrics.
