His self-esteem issues

An extra-marital affair may be a way for him to satisfy his self-esteem issues. If a man, in any way, feels inferior to his wife, he may acquire a need to massage his ego. This normally happens if the wife plays a more dominant role in the family. A man might deviate towards other women, to feel in control of his life and decisions. Also many men, who face an inferiority complex in life, tread towards the path of pursuing other women to prove that they are still wanted by the opposite sex.

No spice in life!

The growing monotony in your love-life can make your husband stray away. In most relationships, love making is an important way of expressing love towards each other. If the sexual relationship between the spouses becomes dull and tedious then they seek some ‘spice’ outside their marriage. If the intimacy between you and your husband has become non-existent, then he might be cheating on you to find that 'satisfaction' in someone else's arms. Just looking for 'thrills'!

He may not be serious about being in a relationship with someone else. He just wants to know how it feels to be with some other woman. At times, extra-marital affairs may be someone’s way of adding a (cheap) thrill to their otherwise mundane life. Many men just want to experience the thrill of cheating on their wives. And for some, it may even be a way to fulfil some pent-up fantasy!

Coming out of the closet!

For many, it is not possible to talk about their ‘unconventional’ sexual orientations openly, whether before or after marriage. So, it is quite possible that your husband is a closeted homosexual. You may have seen him getting ‘uncomfortably’ close or friendly with other guys. He might not have told you about this because of his fear of survival in the society. As his sexual orientation is different, he would seek people outside marriage to satisfy his need for love and intimacy.

He is in love with someone else!

The cupid’s arrow can strike anyone, anytime! It is quite possible that it is not just a physical relationship; it can be something deeper and meaningful. Emotions and feelings are often beyond a person’s control. So, it is quite possible that he has fallen in love with another woman.

Well, whatever maybe the problems in your relationship, cheating on your spouse is not a solution. It is best to talk it out with your partner, rather than seeking some ‘forbidden fruit’!
