Amy Winehouse to have road named after her

London, April 27 (ANI): Amy Winehouse, who died less then two years ago, has a string of tributes planned for her.

Amy's father, Mitchell Winehouse, is planning to put up a statue in Camden and, this week, her family confirmed that there will be a docu-film based on the songwriter's short life.

Now, the late singer could be immortalized with a road named after her, the Sun reported.

Bigwigs in north London are reportedly considering calling a new road 'Winehouse Street', or perhaps 'Winehouse Way' in her memory.

Locals residing in the King's Cross area, which borders Winehouse' old Camden stomping ground, have been asked to contribute their ideas for the ten street names for an area being redeveloped for housing.

Amy's fans have rushed to submit the name Winehouse Street and her family is backing the plan.

Mitchell, who does great work with the 'Amy Winehouse Foundation', told the publication that to think that their surname would be indelibly linked with London through the naming of a street after the late singer is remarkable.

"We are a London family through and through and it would be a tremendous honour if we do become a literal part of the fabric of this great city," he said.

The developers have yet to decide whether to pick the English diva's name. (ANI)
