Anand L Rai: Abhay has a 'special' role in RAANJHANAA

By Glamsham Editorial

Is he in a guest appearance? Is he playing a cameo? Has he been roped in for a very special appearance? Or is he is a surprise package in the film? Quite a few questions have been floating around Abhay Deol's presence in RAANJHANAA which is all set to be released. Though a few naysayers have been wondering whether his presence in the promos of this Aanand L Rai directed film has been a tad curtailed, those in the know-how of the film have a different story to tell.

"Abhay is in the film for a reason and he is in complete know-how of how his part was conceived, what was he expected to do and what would eventually appear on screen. There is no ambiguity whatsoever. When he isn't tense about it, why should others around him start speculating," questions a close associate.

While Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor have been pitched as the main leads of this Krishika Lulla production, Abhay's presence is expected to be a third angle of this love triangle.

"Well, you would know the answer in next 24 hours," quips Aanand, "As for his part in the film, I would refrain from bracketing it as a special appearance or a cameo or anything else. All I can state is that it is a very special role. Abhay is in there for a reason and his part carries a very heavy weight in the film's narrative. When there is so much importance attached to his part in the film, the screen time isn't of prime importance."

For an actor who was last seen as a pivotal character in Prakash Jha's CHAKRAVYUH, one waits to see how his special role plays up in RAANJHANAA which has music by A.R. Rahman and releases this weekend.
