Argo tipped for top Oscars after Producers Guild Award win

London, Jan. 28 (ANI): 'Argo' is leading the way among the Oscar nominations for best picture - after being named the best film of 2012 at the Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills on Saturday.

Producer and director Ben Affleck picked up the award - often a front-runner for the coveted Academy Award - with co-producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov, Sky News reported.

The period film has already won best dramatic film at the Golden Globes where Affleck won the Best Director Award.

In the past five years, the winner of the best film at the Producers Guild Awards has also gone on to pick up the Best Picture Oscar. (ANI)
