Atul Agnihotri: With Salman Khan everything has to be larger-than-life!

By Urvi Parikh, Glamsham Editorial

Atul Agnihotri's last film as a producer, BODYGUARD broke records at the box-office, thanks to his superstar brother-in-law Salman Khan. And now Atul is gearing up for his next, O TERI, starring Pulkit Samrat, Bilal Amrohi and Sarah Jane Dias.

Ask him about how did he come on board to produce O TERI and he says, "We were just done with BODYGUARD and we were looking for something to do. Simultaneously, Pulkit was going through a lot of scripts and that is when he came across this one and he showed it to Salman bhai. Bhai heard it and he called me up and said this is one of the better scripts I have heard and you should do this next. So I started on that and we have been at it."

But the last film that he produced had Salman Khan in a full-fledged role. However this time he has a fresh cast. Probe him whether this will affect the business of the film and he explains, "See, Salman Khan is a part of everything I do. Even in my four films that I made, I have never worked outside my family. Bilal Amrohi is like my son and Pulkit Samrat is like family. So even for this flick we are working in the family only. For me, it's no difference. Plus Salman bhai also feels the responsibility. He is helping us in the promotions."

He adds further, "Also Salman's star stature is so huge that it is unfair to compare O TERI with his other films. But this story has its own uniqueness. The story is of two young journalists trying to make it big in life. How can you fit anyone else in this role? Hence the fresh cast."

However, Salman will be making his presence felt in the movie's title-track. Sallu would be seen grooving with 60 B-boying artistes. "With Salman bhai you have to do everything larger-than-life. His quantum of effort makes you work harder. He has done all kinds of things - movies, songs, situations. So to come up with something new and make it unique everytime is challenging and exciting. So for this song we have included visuals, dance steps and a song that will give freshness and uniqueness to his personality. We hope to get the eyeballs and attention that we are expecting," elaborates Agnihotri.

Directed by Umesh Bisht and produced by Atul Agnihotri, O TERI is all set to release on March 28, 2014.
