This monsoon fashion's feeling kind towards your toes. Step out in style with these classy new options.
The male foot is seldom a sight delightful to the eye, as the ladies will tell you, but dressed in leather man sandals (you are not required to call them mandals or cousins of the man-bag or any other such nonsense) the view of a hairy bunion or two can be rendered pleasant, even without a pedicure. It might take some getting used to, especially with varieties annoyingly named strappy flats, toe-thongs and ironically the once women’s prerogative - gladiator sandals; but then Rome wasn’t built in a day. The techno-barbaric looking variety available generously in stores today might make you feel a bit too Spartacus, however thankfully comfort and civilization are not incompatible to brands like Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss and Balenciaga, who have created sleek patterns in leather, fit for the refined gent, as classic and stylish as shiny mahogany brogues - although you might just find it cheaper to wrap 1000 Rupee notes around your foot. The current crop of open footwear is not meant just for shorts and chinos, but linen trousers and for those days of impulsive bravado – blazers and suits. We don’t suggest you start wearing them to office but as the sun gets brighter and formals move towards casuals, it’s time to let your toes out to play. - Megha Shah
