Beyonce demands 50,000 pounds to perform at US town carnival

London, Feb 28 (ANI): Organisers of a tiny town carnival thought they'd landed R 'n' B singer Beyonce as this year's star attraction, until she demanded 50,000 pounds.

After Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Rod Stewart, Jessie J and even the Queen snubbed invites, the committee was thrilled when the former Destiny's Child star showed an interest in coming to Maldon carnival in Essex.

Her agent sent an email which said that there is a possibility that Beyonce will be available and hopefully can attend the carnival event.

The team set up a meeting but it lasted just 10 minutes after it emerged Beyonce, 31, would not do it for free, the Mirror reported.

A later message from her representative, Edward McHarris, said: "After our conversation it is apparent there is some miscommunication. Regrettably neither the artist nor the promoter will be able to incur the cost of appearance."

Despite the setback, organiser Robert Slight is determined to find a star for the August 3 event. (ANI)
