Bhushan Kumar: AASHIQUI 2 delay may have irritated people

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial

Bhushan Kumar is in a tell-tale mode. His AASHIQUI 2 has turned out to be one of those rare films that has been pre-poned by a few weeks and would be hitting the screens this Friday. While time and again one sees films getting further pushed in search for better buzz, hype and release, this Mohit Suri directed film has turned out to be an exception.

"It was a well calculated decision on the part of Bhushan and Bhatts to do that. Bhushan had a slot available for himself with his other production I LOVE NEW YEAR slated to arrive on 26th April. However such was the curiosity build up to AASHIQUI 2 that he took an almost overnight decision to bring it first. The swap was made and though this required everyone associated with AASHIQUI 2 to work doubly hard, results are there to be seen. The film has suddenly turned ultra-hot and it would be interesting to see how it opens tomorrow," informs an insider.

On his part, Bhushan has all the right reasons to believe that the move would work for his film which brings back AASHIQUI franchise after 23 years.

"When we had such huge buzz generated within 2-3 days of the arrival of 'Tum Hi Ho', we knew this was something special in the making. Overnight the film became so hot that we had no choice but to pre-pone it. We felt that the film would peak rather quickly and there was no need to promote it for added number of weeks. Doing that would have in fact irritated the audience as they would have found the delay unnecessary," says Bhushan.

Moreover with SHOOTOUT AT WADALA deciding to arrive on 3rd May instead of an earlier announced date of 1st May (Wednesday), AASHIQUI 2 now benefit from a full one week run.

"Exactly," he says, "We are getting a solo release and moreover some parts of the country would also have a holiday on 1st May on account of the Labour Day. We have been fortunate."
