Blast from the past

True to its nature, the Indian Hindi film industry had its own share of drama, death, fights, sleaze, controversy, comebacks, corruption, commercial success and failure, and nudity, in 2012. The same ingredients that some of the Bollywood films employ to tease, titillate, torture or teach its committed audiences. Here are some of the most interesting Bollywood events from the year 2012

This is one of the most controversial allegations against the veteran melody queen Lata Mangeshkar. In a radio interview, the estranged wife of the late singer Bhupen Hazarika alleged that her husband had an affair with the playback singer. Hinting that Lata was one of the reasons why she left him, Priyamvada Patel Hazarika said Bhupen and Lata shared rooms in their Tollygaunj apartment whenever she came to Kolkata.

For the old-timers in Assam, this is not news since many are aware of their affection for each other. But this is the first time that anyone has spoken about it in public. In his autobiography ‘Moi Eti Jajabor,’ the late singer wrote about a famous Mumbai-based singer in his life. Earlier, Lata Mangeshkar was in news when she spoke about how she and the late Mohd Rafi fell out over royalty issues. Her claims were challenged by Rafi’s son who said that his father never gave a written apology.
