Bollywood Box-Office Report Of The Week

By Abid, Glamsham Editorial

This week's prominent new releases include Suneel Darshan's Shiv-Hasleen starrer rom-act (romantic -action) flick, KARLE PYAAR KARLE, and class actor Nawazuddin's MISS LOVELY. Given that both the films are releasing a week before Salman Khan's mega project, JAI HO, reduces the potential of the two mentioned films. However a section of the youths will prefer KPK while the class audience will surely patronize MISS LOVELY.

Meanwhile last Friday's two diverse releases, T-Series Divya Kumar Khosla directed YAARIYAN and Vishal Bhardwaj's DEDH ISHQIYA saw contrasting fortunes. While YAARIYAN started on a good note but failed to show much growth over the weekend, DEDH ISHQIYA saw a dull start but picked up as the weekend progressed. As things stand, due to the low cost YAARIYAN is all set to be the first success of 2014, while the much more expensive DEDH ISHQIYA will struggle at the box office. DEDH ISHQIYA is so-so in the overseas grossing and#163;38,500 from UK and $158,000 from the US during the opening weekend (10-12 January).

Meanwhile, the Arshad-Soha starrer, MR. JOE B.
