Bollywood box-office report of the week

With Yash Raj Films' big gun, EK THA TIGER, all set to boom from next week (read August 15), a host of releases are lined up for this week. While GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II sees a Wednesday release, MAIN KRISHNA HOON (unconfirmed), OVERTIME, SECOND MARRIGE DOT COM and 5 GHANTEY MEIN 5 CRORE will arrive on the regular day that is Friday. Needless to add that it will just be Anurag Kashyap's GANGS OF WASSYPUR II which will make a mark at the ticket window, but only till ETT arrives!

Checking out the new releases of last week, and predictably it was just Pooja Bhatt's Sunny Leone starrer, JISM 2, which saw a good performance, but it lasted only till the first day! The film started falling from the second day itself and after a nominal pick up on Sunday crashed from Monday onwards. Having said that the film will fare very much like FERRARI KI SAWAARI, that is profitable for the makers but a loss making venture for the distributors. JISM 2 has also disappointed in the overseas grossing and#163;14,000 from UK and $ 26,500 from the US during the opening weekend (3-5 August).

The other releases of the week, YEH JO MOHABBAT HAI and the animated KRISHNA AUR KANS failed to make any mark at the ticket window.

Moving on, after a good opening weekend, Alt Entertainments KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM, maintained very well during the weekdays as well and collected 4 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 crore from Ahmedabad, 40.35 lakhs from Surat, 35.55 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 20 lakhs from Rajkot, 50 lakhs from Pune, 25.55 lakhs from Nasik, 12.65 lakhs from Goa, 5.25 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.20 crore from Delhi city, 41.30 lakhs from Noida, 35 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 25.55 lakhs from Kanpur, 46.20 lakhs from Lucknow, 15 lakhs from Agra, 8.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 5 lakhs from Aligarh, 55.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 10.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 9 lakhs from Panipat, 15.30 lakhs from Chandigarh, 18.65 lakhs from Jalandhar, 6 lakhs from Amritsar, 4 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.65 lakhs from Bhatinda, 4.15 lakhs from Ambala, 75 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 7.75 lakhs from Siliguri, 3 lakhs from Guwahati, 45 lakhs from Nagpur, 24.60 lakhs from Raipur, 50 lakhs from Indore (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 9.25 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 15 lakhs from Bhopal, 85 lakhs from Jaipur, 12 lakhs from Ajmer, 18 lakhs from Kota, 15 lakhs from Udaipur, 45 lakhs from Hyderabad, 14.20 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 45 lakhs from Bangalore, 2 lakhs from Vijayawada, 3.25 lakhs from Visakhapatnam and 3 lakhs from Madras (collections from other cinemas unreceived). Netting an impressive 35 crores during the opening week from India, the Riteish and Tusshar starrer, KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM, is all set to be a big success for all concerned. The film though has not done well in the overseas grossing and#163;55,000 from UK and $124,000 from the US till the second weekend (3-5 August).

Meanwhile Illuminati Films' Homi Adajania directed COCKTAIL saw another earning week at the multiplexes as it collected 40 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 10.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.50 lakhs from Surat, 4.35 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 5 lakhs from Pune, 2.20 lakhs from Nasik, 1 lakh from Goa, 65 lakhs from Delhi city, 8 lakhs from Noida, 6.55 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5 lakhs from Kanpur, 5.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Agra, 1.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 14 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.55 lakhs from Faridabad, 4 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 15.35 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.65 lakhs from Siliguri, 4.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.25 lakhs from Raipur, 3 lakhs from Indore, 1.75 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Bhopal, 8 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Ajmer, 1.50 lakhs from Kota, 16.25 lakhs from Hyderabad, 20 lakhs from Bangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam and 2.50 lakhs from Madras (collections from other cinemas unreceived). With another 3.75 crore COCKTAIL has netted a good 75.75 crore in three weeks from India. The Saif, Deepika and Diana starrer is a clear hit. COCKTAIL has also done well in the overseas (good in the US) grossing and#163; 661,500 from UK and $1,210,665 from the US till the fourth weekend (3-5 August).

Concluding with Rohit Shetty's BOL BACHCHAN, the film manages to earn some more for the distributors collecting 40 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 17.25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 4 lakhs from Surat, 7.35 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Rajkot, 4 lakhs from Pune, 2.50 lakhs from Nasik, 1 lakh from Goa, 25 lakhs from Delhi city, 6 lakhs from Noida, 3 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5 lakhs from Kanpur, 7 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Allahabad, 5.20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.25 lakhs from Faridabad, 2 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 10 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Siliguri, 4.55 lakhs from Nagpur, 4.25 lakhs from Raipur, 6 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 3 lakhs from Bhopal, 10.50 lakhs from Jaipur, 1 lakh from Ajmer, 1.55 lakhs from Kota, 2 lakhs from Udaipur, 7.50 lakhs from Hyderabad, 2 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived) and 6.25 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 4 crore, BOL BACHCHAN has netted a huge 99 crore in four weeks from India. The Ajay, Abhishek and Asin starrer is a hit plus. BOL BACHCHAN has also done quite well in the overseas (good in the US) grossing and#163;411,000 from UK till the fifth weekend (3-5 August), and $1,222,100 from the US.
