For Saif, to release his BULLETT RAJA first in the overseas territory and following it up with a release in India is a pointer to the confidence that Saif enjoys with his fans in the overseas market. This is in spite of the fact that BULLET RAJA is a film that is situated in the hinterland suffused with nuances that characterize its rustiness and for the fans in the Diaspora a connect with the situation may be a tad difficult to find, even then Saif Ali Khan is confident that it would be his charm that would bring in the fans to the cinema halls in the overseas territory. Saif Ali Khan has an amazing fan following in the overseas territory and for him BULLETT RAJA would also be a litmus test to see whether it is his star power that guides his fan following or whether it is the rom-coms with which the fans in the Diaspora identify and accentuate his fan following.
There is an economic rationale as well for releasing BULLETT RAJA earlier in the overseas territory. December is the month when the countries that constitute the overseas territory go in a holiday mode and this is one of the best seasons commercially for cinemas. Most of the big ticket Hollywood films are released around this time and therefore it is logical or an out of box thinking by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Saif Ali Khan to test waters in this season with BULLETT RAJA.
If this trend succeeds then BULLETT RAJA would create an outlier moment for film distribution for the Hindi films as one could see more films vying for eyeballs in the holiday season in overseas, this being the primary reason why SKYFALL was released first in India and then in Hollywood. BULLETT RAJA in fact could set the trend for globalization of Hindi cinema in real sense of terms as far as commercially releasing it is concerned.
