The iconic jodi of 80s of realistic cinema, Deepti Naval and Farooque Shaikh came together after years in Hema Malini's TELL ME O KHUDA. However, the duo had a very miniscule part in the film. It didn't have the scope to highlight the famous couple. But those who have been yearning to see the magic of the most loved pair of its times once again on-screen, upcoming film LISTEN...AMAYA is all set to fulfill their wish. Thanks to debutante director Avinash Kumar Singh who is bringing the couple in a full-fledged role.

So ask Deepti about her experience reuniting with Farooque after years and she says, "It's not that for 28 years we (me and Farooque) didn't meet at all. We often ran into each other at various occasions. It's just for the audience that we are seen together after a long gap. We picked it up from where we left."

"Though we were earlier paired in Hemaji's production TELL ME O KHUDA, we had a very small part in the film. Now LISTEN...AMAYA brings us as the main protagonists," she adds.

Besides Farooque, it was a mature subject and a completely new set-up which induced Deepti to take up LISTEN...AMAYA. "After a long time there was a mature subject, a proper script which was presenting us in a right manner. With a new director, new set up and Farooque being there I wanted to grab it with both the hands," says Deepti.

Probe Deepti what makes her and Farooque's pairing so endearing and she expounds, "Both of us are mature actors. It's nice to have a competent actor. We have a great tuning on-screen and comfort level. And that's the reason people have so much curiosity and are excited to see us together...Having said that, people just feel that all my work has been with Farooque whereas the fact is I have done 70 films in my career and only 6 are with Farooque..."

"We were a very popular pair of 80s. More than us it was our filmmakers' contribution in making us so lovable. We did our best with spontaneity and it clicked. Now I hope they will like LISTEN...AMAYA too."

The film talks about the relationship between a widowed mother and daughter and also the mother's relationship with another man. Deepti says, "They are not drawn to each other or romancing each other. They share a very mature relationship. It's more about companionship. They want to spend time together, be with each other. They like each other's company. It sort of raises various questions like whether they should get into relationship at this age and stage? Whether parents should be parents and stop being man and woman? Whether middle-aged people can find love again?"

So ask Deepti will we witness the same magic again and she says with a pause, "The magic of youth can never be repeated. Having said that, the audience will definitely revisit the olden times. LISTEN AMAYA will rekindle the old romance. It's a lovely subject and handled sensitively by Avinash Kumar Singh."

So can we sum up LISTEN...AMAYA as a redefining moment for Deepti-Farooque's jodi? "Yes you can say that it is redefining our jodi, however in the middle-age," says Deepti gleefully.
