For most of us, the roaring sound of a V-8-powered American muscle car will always have a special place in our heart. In 1972, one Indiana man found out first hand just how special of one of these cars could be with the purchase of a stunning new lime green Ford Mustang Mach 1. After owning said car for nearly 18 years, the owner decided it was time to release the Mustang back into the wild for another enthusiast to enjoy.

Now, after 24 years, and what we assume to be countless days and nights of searching, one man and his wife are about to be reunited with their lime green Mach 1 pride and joy, thanks to their son.

It’s stories like this that make us glad to be car people.
