Founded in 1988, brothers Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann set out to create a tradition of well-engineered, beautifully designed cars for both on the road and track. Building their first vehicle (the MF3 Roadster) in 1993, the brand has developed and produced high-performance sportscars like the GT MF5 and GT MF4-CS (pictured) as recent as this year.
Now, BimmerToday reports that Wiesmann has publicly filed for bankruptcy in a German district court in Munster. Neither the court nor the company provided details about filing, but averaging production of only about 200 cars per year, it’s difficult to imagine a prosperous last few years.
We’ll update you with specifics as more details emerge.
