Girish Kumar goes from fat to fit for RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial

The promo of RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA is out and one can pretty much see a lean debutant in the form of Girish Kumar. However not many are aware that till about a few years back, the youngster was hardly close to even being fit and was in fact a lot overweight.

"Girish didn't really have a great body to boast though being born in a filmi family meant that there was always a chance of him expressing his desire to break into movies," informs a source, "Since his father Kumar Taurani and uncle Ramesh Taurani have been making movies for years, it was a given that he would soon be bitten by the Bollywood bug. However for that he had a task in hand to let go of all the flab and bring on a new persona that befitted the screen presence of a hero."

What followed next was a strict regime, determination and conviction on part of Girish that resulted in a turnaround. It wasn't overnight though as it required perseverance over three years for the youngster before he could bring himself in front of the camera.

Says Kumar Taurani in a proud tone, "Girish is a very committed boy and for last three years, he was taking care of his health. Yes, he was very fat to begin with and had a task in hand to reduce weight. We brought on board a trainer from South Africa whom we had met during the making of PRINCE. It was an intensive exercise for them and one of the biggest moments of Girish's fitness was when he developed six pack abs within three weeks. The trainer stayed with Girish right through the shoot of RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA'. The way he looks in the film, our director Prabhudheva is so very happy."

Guess after Arjun Kapoor, here is yet another youngster who could well be telling success stories of going from fat to fit.
