Dry skin

Can you ever go wrong with honey? No, you cannot. Most skin care products contain honey, so how can we exclude this from our list. You can use honey to make your own cleansers and scrub. Here are some simple homemade recipes featuring the humble honey.

"    Natural honey and almond scrub

Scrub away dead skin with this super powerful honey and almond scrub. Combine almonds, oatmeal, honey and the juice of one lemon. Blend them together and voila! you have your very own honey and almond scrub ready.

Wait, it's not over yet. There's a special way to use this special recipe. Apply on the face in small circular motions. The scrub also doubles as a face mask. Leave it on for 5-8 minutes as the ingredients wield their magic wand and give you soft and glowing skin.

"    Honey cucumber toner

Having summer blues? Fret not, here's what you need to do to get the skin that smiles even in the harsh summer sun.

Strain the juice of one cucumber and mix it with honey, you may also add rose water. Keep it stocked in the refrigerator, apply on the face with a cotton ball daily as often as you like.

Acne problems

Neem

Most women would have faced the problem of acne at some point or other in their life. Show acne the door with this very easy to make Neem face pack.

Soak dry neem powder in some lukewarm water or grind fresh neem leaves to a fine paste. Next, add rose water, sandalwood powder and juice of one fresh lime. Apply on the whole face or the affected area. Use 4 days in a week for acne free skin.

 Tomatoes


Now who would have thought that tomatoes could come in handy for treating acne? But they do. Tomatoes contain lycopene, an antioxidant that helps stave off wrinkles and fine lines, give a radiant complexion and what more, they also help treat acne.

"    Tomato and avocado face mask

Mash one ripe tomato and avocado together. You can also add half a teaspoon of turmeric to it. Turmeric has antibacterial properties and helps fight bacteria responsible for acne. For best results use this face pack 4 days in a week.

Onions

Surprised to see it on this list? Allow us to reveal the might of this wonder product. Onions have anti-inflammatory properties and not only help fight acne but also eliminate acne scars. 

"    Onion oatmeal scrub

To a pot of boiling water add about 3 table spoons of oatmeal and let it simmer for around 5 mins. Next, add finely grinded paste of one medium onion to it. Turn off the flame and let it cool. You can store it in the refrigerator for about 1 week. You can also add honey or green clay to achieve the right consistency.  Apply on the face and leave it on for 20 mins and rinse it off.

Stretch marks

Oh, those nasty obstinate stretch marks! How many times have you wondered if there was something that could help you get rid of them? Your wish has been granted. It's time to say goodbye to those ugly stretch marks.

Olive oil and Aloe Vera pack


To make this recipe you will require ½ cup of olive oil, ¼ cup Aloe Vera gel, 2 vitamin A capsules and 4 Vitamin E capsules. First, break the Vitamin tablets in a bowl. To it add the rest of the ingredients. Apply on the affected area. Regular use of this mix is sure to make your stretch marks vanish away. 

Sugar and almond oil scrub

Make a paste of sugar, almond oil and lemon juice. Rub the mixture on the affected area before taking a shower every day and you will see your stretch marks fade away within a short span of time.

Potato juice

Cut a potato into thick slices. Rub over the affected area for some time. Clean off with lukewarm water. Repeat the process every day for rapid results.

Sunburns and tanned skin

Is the summer heat driving you mad? And if, God forbid, you get a tan, there is no way you can do anything else to divert the attention from your sun roasted skin. Forget expensive chemical treatments, you can get rid of tan at home with these simple recipes. What more, you wouldn't have to dash to the supermarket to get the ingredients; chances are you would have them stocked in your refrigerator or in your kitchen cupboard.

Lemon

The citrus fruit is a wonder product if you wish to get rid of the unsightly sun tans. Squeeze the juice of 2 lemons; add some cucumber and rose water to it. Apply it on the affected area. If you have sensitive skin, do not use too much lemon juice and add the paste of potato instead. Applying curd on the affected area is also believed to help reduce the tanning.

Chapped lips

Say hello to baby soft lips with this miraculous technique. Apply some honey or petroleum jelly on your lips and then with the help of an old toothbrush, brush away the dead skin and lo and behold! you have baby soft lips.

Frizzy hair

Remember, how your grandmother always told you to oil your hair before washing? Well, she was right about this one. Slather your hair with some oil before washing your head. Know what? Many actresses including Deepika Padukone swear by this one. We recommend linseed oil. Why? Well, you have to try to know the reason.
