Superstar Shah Rukh Khan turns 47 today. Born on November 2, in 1965, and brought up in New Delhi, Khan started out with television shows such as Circus and Fauji and then went on to make his debut in the film Deewana opposite Divya Bharti in the year 1992.
Over the years, he has acted in blockbusters such as Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, Devdas, Veer-Zaara, Swades and Don.
In the latter half of 2000s, he heightened his popularity by notching up awards and box-office numbers in equal number by acting in superhits such as Chak De India, Om Shanti Om, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and My Name Is Khan. Thanks to his humongous fan following, he has been called nicknames such as Baadshah, King Khan etc.
In the year 2008, he bought an IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. His team won the IPL in 2012. 2012 has also been a year of controversies for the actor. He was involved in a scuffle with Farah Khan's husband Shirish Kunder in January 2012. Although the two patched up later on, the fight generated a lot of negative buzz for Khan. He was also involved in another fight with security guards at the Wankhede stadium during the Indian Premier League this year. Even his films Ra.One and Don 2 failed to live up to the expectations.
On the brighter side, he completed 20 years in Hindi cinema this year.
This year will see Khan return to the big screen in the last directorial venture of late filmmaker, Yash Chopra, Jab Tak Hai Jaan. He has also signed Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express, in which he will be seen alongside Deepika Padukone. Jab Tak Hai Jaan, also starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, is set to release on November 13.
We at Movie Talkies wish King Khan a Happy Birthday and a great year ahead!
