How Arjun Kapoor bagged 'Ishaqzaade'

Unlike other star sons, Arjun Kapoor bagged his first film 'Ishaqzaade' via social network

Being a star kid, you are bound to get attention and a proper launchpad in Bollywood. But for Arjun Kapoor, his filmi connections and being Boney Kapoor’s son didn’t come handy. Infact, Arjun bagged his debut film like most debutants nowadays- through social network.

It is surprising that the young actor didn’t use his filmy connection to bag a role or ask his director father to launch him in a film. It was Yash Chopra’s casting director Shanoo Sharma who came across Arjun’s profile on Facebook and immediately short listed him. “Shanoo had no idea that he was Boney Kapoor’s son. After meeting Arjun, they were very sure that Arjun can very well fit into the part of a rustic and rebellious youth. After seeing his audition tapes, everyone at YashRaj was convinced that he fitted the part to the T,” says a source.

His more outgoing cousin Sonam is very excited about his film where he stars opposite Priyanka Chopra’s cousin, Parineeti Chopra. Arjun is late Mona Kapoor’s son and has studied cinema at Asian Academy of Film and Television. Before trying his hand at acting, he has worked as an assistant director on films like Shakti: The Power (2002), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and Salaam-E-Ishq (2007).
