Hathway To Launch Hathway CCC Cine, A HIndi Movie Channel

Following the footsteps of Zee TV, that launched & Pictures a couple of months ago, Hathway too will soon launch a Hindi Movie Channel called Hathway CCC Cine.

While Hathway does have local movie channels across different parts of Mumbai, this is will be its first Pan-India Movie Channel. Currently Hathway has a Pan-India Music Channel in its kitty.

Hathway CCC Cine, the new Premium Hindi Movie Channel, as the company terms it, will be made available to all its cable subscribers at no additional cost and will be part of Hathway’s existing base pack.

The development is, in part, motivated by the on-going digitisation of the Indian cable television industry. Hathway CCC Cine will have a library of movies from studios including Shemaroo, Yashraj and Eros.

Hathway currently owns a library of about thousand films from these studios, including several recent (2012 – 2013) releases.

Post the launch of Hathway CCC Cine, Hathway is planning to launch few more channels. The channels that are in pipeline will cover genres like general entertainment, kids, music, regional movies, lifestyle and adventure.

“The channel is not an ad-free channel. It is a capsule channel. Hathway CCC is a national channel which has a great potential for national advertisers.” said Hathway CCC Cine, Amit Dave, Associate Vice President, Content Business, Hathway.

Generally, a Hindi Movie Channel telecasts about three hundred movies in a year and the channels tend to repeat movies quite often. Hathway CCC Cine would also follow the same strategy.

Hathway CCC Cine is a cable centric channel running only on Hathway Cable Network. It is a value-added channel only for Hathway subscribers. The cable rights cost is far lesser than satellite rights, which would make it viable to run this channel.

Also a cable centric channel gives an option for local advertising, unlike satellite channels. Here’s wishing the entire team at Hathway CCC Cine all the best for their new venture.
