Huma Khan Sentenced To Three Years Imprisonment For Torturing Maid Servant

Small-time actress Huma Khan, who had appeared in small budget films in the 80s and 90s and was also seen playing minor roles in Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Saath Saath Hai, was sentenced to an imprisonment of three years after she was found guilty of torturing her minor maid-servant.

Khan, a resident of Dahisar, was charged with various sections of the Indian Penal Code after the victim's mother filed a case with the Mira Road police station on February 25, 2008, accusing the actress and her brother of kidnapping and torturing the minor girl after taking her to Pune with the promise of taking care of her like a daughter. In the complaint, it was also alleged that Khan and her brother had burnt her body with lit cigarettes.

Though Khan's brother Shammiuddin Shaikh was accused of raping the minor girl, he was acquitted after he pleaded impotence. However, prosecutors claim that they do not agree with this and would appeal to a higher court to ask for strict punishment to be meted out to Shaikh.
