Jaya Bachchan to impart acting lessons at 14th MFF

The 14th Mumbai Film Festival (MFF) organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) will organize a host of workshops and master-classes for the students of cinema conducted by well-known names of world and Indian cinema. These will cover a wide range of subjects from film direction, script-writing, and editing to acting and choreography.

Jaya Bachchan, veteran Indian actress and film star, and Rajya Sabha MP, will take time out of her busy schedule of political and social work and will be conducting an acting master-class for MFF delegates and students during the festival. A Satyajit Ray discovery, and an FTII graduate, Jaya Bachchan's filmography includes films like MAHANAGAR (1963), GUDDI (1971), UPHAAR (1971), KOSHISH (1972), KORA KAGAZ (1974), ZANJEER (1973), ABHIMAAN (1973), CHUPKE CHUPKE (1975), MILI (1975) and SHOLAY (1975) among others.

Apart from the acting master-class conducted by Jaya Bachchan, the other master-classes will be conducted by STAR WARS producer Garfy Kurtz on Creative Production, HITCH helmer Andy Tennat on Direction, THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENDALIST cinematographer Declan Quinn on Cinematography, and noted editor Pascale Chavance on Film Editing.

The 14th MFF is sponsored by Reliance Entertainment and American Express and runs through 18-25 October 2012. The screenings will take place at NCPA (main venue), Inox (Nariman Point), Liberty, and Cinemax Sion and Versova.
