In March 2012, Jaya Bachchan filed her nomination for the Rajya Sabha as a Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate and today the veteran actress, along with 49 others, took her oath in the Rajya Sabha.
Jaya is making a comeback into politics, after a sabbatical of two years. She returned to SP after a brief split following the expulsion of Amar Singh. She took her oath in English and was welcomed by Chairman Hamid Ansari.
Happy with her achievements, her husband Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to express his delight. "Jaya sworn in as Rajya Sabha member this morning .. saw proceedings on Tv .. felt proud and good."
Well, people have been pitching Big B's name for President too. Buzz has it that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, too is gravitating towards a political career now.
Seems, it's a transition from being an influential Bollywood clan to a powerful political family.
