John Abraham: There is no comparison between MADRAS CAFE and EK THA TIGER

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial

John Abraham is surprised. A couple of lines said by him at a recent event to bring his next production MADRAS CAFE have been

blown out of proportion and he truly believes that all of that has been entirely out of context. While it was first reported that John

took a dig on 'filmy' portrayal of RAW agents by stating that 'Real RAW agents don't jump off the buildings like Spiderman and

neither do they show six-pack abs', it was soon (mis) construed by many from both within and outside the industry that the man

being referred by him was none other than Salman Khan.

John clears the air.

"When I was saying that RAW agents don't walk up the walls, the only person I was referring was me. I wanted to say that as an

actor, I couldn't be seen jumping around or showing my six pack abs since RAW agents are meant to be real. In fact since there are

shots of me walking in the crowd, my director Shootjit (Sircar) was very clear that I had to walk 'unlike John' otherwise I would stand

out. I had to deconstruct myself and completely change my walk and body type," says John.

As for the comparisons with Salman Khan, considering the fact that the superstar played RAW agent in EK THA TIGER exactly a

year back and did flaunt his six pack abs, John says, "These are no comparisons between MADRAS CAFE and EK THA TIGER;

these are two absolutely different films. Salman is as large as he gets in India; I totally respect that. He is such a pleasure to watch.

Our space is very different though and we are very proud of that."

W.r.t. the reference point being any RAW agent, whether real or for a film, John says, "I want to clear that neither am I opinionated

nor judgemental."

Well, that should set the records straight and set the rumour mongers to rest for good. We would rather want to hear more about

Madras Cafe and the film it is than the silly innuendos making rounds.
