Justin Bieber sweeps American Music Awards with most wins

Washington, Nov. 19 (ANI): Canadian pop star Justin Bieber swept the American Music Awards on Sunday, by winning all three categories in which he was nominated, including the night's biggest award, artist of the year, over Rihanna, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Drake.

The 18-year-old teen singer pulled his mother, Pattie Malette, onstage to help him accept the top award.

"This is my mom. She's little, but she's beautiful," CBS News quoted him as saying.

"I wanted to thank you for always believing in me," he said, looking at his mom.

Bieber also won favorite pop/rock male artist and favorite pop/rock album for Believe.

While accepting the first award of the night, he said "I want to say this is for all the haters who thought that I was just here for one or two years."

"I feel like I'm going to be here for a very long time," he said.

When he returned to the stage to claim his second award, he corrected what he saw as an oversight and thanked his long-time mentor, Usher, among others.
