Kangana Ranaut could indeed be 'Rani' of box-office in 2014

It seems Kangana Ranaut has indeed hit the purple patch in her career, as after phenomenal success of QUEEN, commercially as well as the critical acclaim she is coming up with another scintillating performance in her next offering REVOLVER RANI which has been directed by Sai Kabir and has been produced by Wave Cinemas.

It is a story that takes one back to the badlands of Chambal ravines, the role that dacoits play in the elections in the belt, and what happens when a dacoit falls in love with a film star. Kangana Ranaut enacts the role of the dacoit who is in love with a film star- Vir Das and would go to any lengths to protect her love.

For Kangana Ranaut, this could be perhaps her first film where she enacts the role of a dacoit who is trigger happy and for Hindi cinema as well, she could perhaps be the first actor amongst her contemporaries who gets a chance to play the role of a dacoit as she is doing in REVOLVER RANI. The film has an ensemble cast and Kangana is the only marquee star in the film.

Kangana Ranaut seems to have understood the template of filmmaking characterized by the trait of a marquee star acting in films which have actors in preponderance so that she gets ample chance to display her acting histrionics. She did that with aplomb in QUEEN and now she is doing it again in REVOLVER RANI.

The journey from QUEEN to REVOLVER RANI indeed is a journey which would tell the world that Kangana Ranaut is here to have a long innings of acting. It indeed is heartening to note that Kangana has the guts to break the mould of playing a glam doll, and rather focus on performance to endear the audience as also the box-office. 2014 indeed could be the year that she had been waiting for, and with REVOLVER RANI she surely would be able to expand her fan-base with the rural India, the India of the hinterland for whom the saga of dacoits still is an enigmatic tour through the nostalgia of folklores.

And now the talks are on that Kangana will once again be the rani on-screen in the upcoming film DURGA RANI SINGH, which is said to be helmed by Sujoy Ghosh.

Indeed, it seems time has arrived for Kangana to the 'Rani' of Bollywood now!
