Kumar Taurani: Happy with response to RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA

Makers of RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA are a happy lot. The film has enjoyed a good weekend at the box office and even more importantly, the film's main lead, Girish Kumar, has been accepted. For a newcomer who came with a baggage of expectations, more so since he is also the son of film's producer Kumar Taurani, there was a lot riding on the film. However with the film clicking with the audience, it could well be time to pop the champagne.

"I am ecstatic about the fact that the word of mouth for the film is so huge. Everyone is loving Girish and the film. Good that audience has liked what we wanted to show them in the film," says Kumar Taurani who spent close to couple of years in ensuring that the film gets a right platform, stage, setting, execution and release.

What is further notable about the film's success is the fact that it was facing competition from this week's release D-DAY as well as last week's BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG which has been doing exceedingly well. With quite a few options available for the audience, the fact that RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA managed to draw crowds, especially in the single screens where there were good footfalls from the very opening show, has been heartening for all involved.

"For a film with a newcomer, this is huge indeed. I am very happy with the response so far," he says, "We are seeing escalation in collections with every passing show. Now we are gearing up for an exciting week ahead."

While that happens, one thing is for sure that a new male lead in the form of Girish has pretty much walked his first step into Bollywood.
