Murder 3 Music Review

By Abid, Glamsham Editorial

Continuing with the tradition of churning out sequels or let's say, quasi-sequels the Bhatt camp has moved on to its third in the series of the highly successful MURDER and MURDER 2 which is titled, MURDER 3. While the first two featured music's very own lucky mascot Emraan Hashmi, and boasted of countless chartbusting musical fare, popular to this day, this time its Bhatt's new blue eyed boy, Randeep Hooda in the lead! Music has been entrusted to their all-time favourite, Pritam, and lyrics by the ever dependable Sayeed Quadri. The popular Roxen band and Mustafa Zahid (after AWARAPAN, BLOOD MONEY) from Pakistan are the guest composers. So with high expectations we begin the musical journey and check for ourselves if the results are as positive as always. It's Pritam's loveable and popular signature South-East Asian melody for the Bhatt camp that reigns supreme with 'Teri Jhuki Nazar', a soft, all out romantic track with some superb soft stringed guitar strummings and sublime drum kicks. Shafqat Amanat Ali's hauntingly base vocals and Sayeed Quadri's simple yet elegant lyrics are the strong points. The song also appears in its remixed version (Film version) which is quite like the original except for some minor additions. A space filler! The next number 'Mat Azma Re' turns out to be another outstanding piece of work from the Pritam, Sayeed Quadri and K.K team. Superb flowing melody, soft musical arrangements with violin, guitar and drums, excellent singing and absolutely divine lyrics makes for a sure-shot chartbuster. Song seems to be tailor made for Emraan Hashmi but Randeep Hooda too fits the bill. A racy, light on the senses melodious outing in the form of 'Jaata Hai Tujh Tak' featuring the promising Nikhil D'Souza with nice background female chorales greets the listeners next up. Though the song is good enough it fades in comparison to the rest but still makes for a pleasant outing. The remix or Film version is more peppy with lots of added beats and increased tempo, perfect for club and discos. The famous Roxen Band featuring the very popular Mustafa Zahid come in for a lone track, 'Hum Jee Lenge' and as can be determined from the title itself, it's a sad song of separation and heart break, but in the typical Mustafa Zahid chartbusting style. The highlight is of course Mustafa's canorous, emotive vocals and some very unique and heartrending lyrics. The rock version of 'Hum Jee Lenge' adds more zest and energy with some good soft rock arrangements and slightly enhanced rhythm and tempo but one feels that the original was better! Concluding the album one must say that the high expectations are indeed met with as many as three chartbusters in the form of 'Teri Jhuki Nazar', "Mat Azma Re" and "Hum Jee Lenge". However the height of its popularity will surely be determined only after the film hits the theaters as the songs do not feature music's lucky mascot and 'murder man' Emraan Hashmi. Rating - 3.5/5
