By Rajesh Kumar Singh, Glamsham EditorialThe well know Indian actress and film director Nandita Das will be joining the Short Film and Cinefondation jury of the 66th Cannes Film Festival that takes place between 15th to 16th May, 2016. The jury is headed by the New Zealand filmmaker and Palme d'or winner Jane Campion for her film THE PIANO.
The other members of the Jury are Maji-daAbdi, the Ethiopian director and producer, Nicoletta Braschi, the Italian actress, and Semih Kaplanoglu, the Turkish director.
Nandita Das is an award-winning Indian film actress and director known for her performances in FIRE (1996), EARTH (1998), BAWANDAR (2000), KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAL (2002), AZHAGI and AAMAAR BHUVAN (2002). She has also directed a film titled FIRAAQ (2008) that won a number of National and International awards. She has been awarded the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Letters by the Government of France for her work. Nandita Das was the first Indian to be inducted into their International Women's Forum's hall of fame. She was also the Chairperson of the Children's Film Society of India.
