Naomi Campbell attacks fashion industry for being more racist than in 80s

London, Sept 17 (ANI): Naomi Campbell has reportedly slammed the fashion industry as being more racist than it was when she started out in the mid-1980s.

The 43-year old British model accused some casting agents of only wanting to hire models who are white, while highlighting that just 6 per cent of catwalk models at this year's New York Fashion Week were black and 9 per cent were Asian, the Mirror reported.

The co-founder of the Diversity Coalition campaign argued that talent isn't defined by beauty or color, and "the act of not choosing models of color, is racist".

Campbell, who became the first black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue in 1987, added that though the discrimination she suffered made her stronger, "not all young models today are like that". (ANI)
