Quite expectedly, it was Akshay Kumar's OMG OH MY GOD! which dominated proceedings even on its second Friday. As a result, both the new releases, Sridevi's comeback vehicle, ENGLISH VINGLISH and Vivek-Mallika starrer KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI (KLPD) were off to a dull start varying from 15-25 percent.
While ENGLISH VINGLISH fared better at the high end multiplexes, it was KLPD which dominated the single screens. The best collections for ENGLISH VINGLISH came from the South (Mysore circuit) and the Hindi heartland and interiors preferred KLPD.
As things stand, the next two days are critical for both the new releases, and as far as the edge is concerned, the trade and media (read, critics) are more upbeat for ENGLISH VINGLISH as compared to KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI (KLPD).
Coming back to OMG OH MY GOD!, the film continued it's amazing weekday's run with rock steady collections and ended the first week netting 35-36 crore (to be validated) from India, which given the costs is a good performance. The film is sure to be a hit or even a super hit depending upon its performance in the coming week(s).
