Oscars host Seth MacFarlane panned for 'offensive' jokes

London, Feb. 26 (ANI): Seth MacFarlane, known for creating edgy US animated sitcoms 'Family Guy' and 'American Dad,' is facing a backlash for saying "offensive jokes" at the Academy Awards.

His most controversial joke was that only one actor had really got "into Lincoln's head" - John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated him, the Telegraph reported.

Responding to the boos from the audience, he said, "150 years and it's still too soon".

MacFarlane also sang a song called 'We've seen your boobs' in which he named the actresses in the audience who have appeared topless in films.

In another segment, he appeared to take a swipe at British singer Adele, saying, that Rex Reed, a New York Observer film critic who compared the 'Bridesmaids' actress Melissa McCarthy to a "female hippo," will be out at the event to review Adele's performance of 'Skyfall.'

In a pot shot at Daniel Day-Lewis, the host asked him that if he bumped into Don Cheadle on the studio lot, will he try to free him and how deep will his method go.

He also suggested that the film 'Django Unchained' that features many racial epithets, had been based on Mel Gibson's voicemails - and described the movie as singers Chris Brown and Rihanna's idea of a "date movie."

Speaking about nine-year-old Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis, he said that she will be 16 years until she's too old for George Clooney.

In one segment, he used the animated teddy bear from his hit film 'Ted' to make a joke about Jews controlling Hollywood.

The toy, voiced by MacFarlane, said that it was born Theodore Shapiro and would like to donate to Israel and continue to work in Hollywood forever. (ANI)
