Love wrinkle-free

As 'Shirin Farhad Ki To Nikal Padi' releases this week, here’s a look at films which live up to the film’s tagline- Love has no expiry date

The promo of ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ lives up to its tagline and shows two 40-somethings romancing each other. In her acting debut, Farah Khan along with Boman Irani stir-out a love potion which is at its frothiest best as the two discover each other a little late in the day. Amidst teen-love stories and over-the-top family dramas, Bollywood has also experimented with mature love stories which take the off-beat route. Here’s a list of films which have broken the mould.

Baghban:
In this Ravi Chopra tear-jerker, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini play a very much in love couple who have to bear separation because of their self-seeking children. Though the storyline is not new, the treatment and the chemistry between the couple was a winner and the song ‘Main Yahan Tu Wahan’, sung by Bachchan himself is the best example.

Honeymoon travels: In the film, Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani play the oldest among the six couples who are on their honeymoon. As each couple deals with their own relationship problems, this couple also have theirs. Boman and Shabana subtly bring out the nuances in this ‘elderly’ romance and the best example is the scene where he tries to quickly kisses her when no one is looking.
