As 'Shirin Farhad Ki To Nikal Padi' releases this week, here’s a look at films which live up to the film’s tagline- Love has no expiry date

The promo of ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ lives up to its tagline and shows two 40-somethings romancing each other. In her acting debut, Farah Khan along with Boman Irani stir-out a love potion which is at its frothiest best as the two discover each other a little late in the day. Amidst teen-love stories and over-the-top family dramas, Bollywood has also experimented with mature love stories which take the off-beat route. Here’s a list of films which have broken the mould.

Baghban:
In this Ravi Chopra tear-jerker, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini play a very much in love couple who have to bear separation because of their self-seeking children. Though the storyline is not new, the treatment and the chemistry between the couple was a winner and the song ‘Main Yahan Tu Wahan’, sung by Bachchan himself is the best example.

Honeymoon travels: In the film, Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani play the oldest among the six couples who are on their honeymoon. As each couple deals with their own relationship problems, this couple also have theirs. Boman and Shabana subtly bring out the nuances in this ‘elderly’ romance and the best example is the scene where he tries to quickly kisses her when no one is looking.

Pyaar Mein Twist: When Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia tell their children about their relationship, they scream back, ‘love at this age?’ But ‘Pyaar Mein Twist’ is packed with moments which stay even after you are done watching the film. The camaraderie between the two, the way Rishi struggles to express his love for Dimple makes for a delightful watch.

Second Marriage Dot Com: The self-explanatory title is about a son trying to find a match for his father through Second marriage.com. Some scenes in the film are truly well-written for example their initial discomfort knowing each other and in bed which make of a good watch.

Khatta Meetha:
The film which belongs to a series of ‘feel good’ films on the hopes and aspirations  of now-almost-extinct Indian middle class. The film is about an aging widower and his desire to find love for the second time. The awkwardness during Ashok Kumar-Pearl Padamse’s first meeting and the struggle to unify all their children after their marriage makes this a great watch.
