Director Anubhav Sinha, who directed India's first superhero 3D film, Ra.One, starring Shah Rukh Khan, recently stated that as a child he never read comics or saw superhero films.
Sinha, who hails from Banaras, said that Ra.One was a big challenge for him because of that.
During an interaction at NFDC's Film Bazaar during the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012, Sinha revealed that he never read comics as a child, nor did he get to watch superhero films, but while making Ra.One, he was influenced by the things that he had seen in the superhero flicks later on his life.
He also said that the superhero films have pretty much the same formula and there are some elements which come automatically. He quipped that you cannot make a The Dark Knight with Shah Rukh Khan, since the audiences identify him with a certain image. The director is currently working on his next, the Madhuri Dixit-Juhi Chawla starrer, Gulab Gang.
