Ranveer Singh takes a shot at stardom with RAMLEELA

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial

Ranveer Singh is finding himself at an interesting stage. Just a few weeks back he was wooing critics with LOOTERA. Now he is all set to find audience rooting for him in a massy entertainer RAMLEELA.

"The film would be watched quite closely because usually it is Sanjay Leela Bhansali whose films time and again woo critics. His last release GUZAARISH was a hit with the critics even though audience hadn't quite picked it up. Now with RAMLEELA he has stepped into an out and out commercial zone. While critical acclaim could still come in due to his filmmaking aesthetics involved, one of the bigger gainers could well be Ranveer Singh who would be demonstrating two different facets of his acting personality in a single year," says an insider.

This stems from the fact that while he was required to go all subtle in LOOTERA, when it comes to RAMLEELA he has totally let himself loose. So much so that Bhansali even quipped around spending good time on the sets controlling his hero's oozing energy.

"After a runaway success like BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, he did score a success with LADIES V/S RICKY BEHL but then comparisons with his debut flick were obvious. He went through an image exercise with LOOTERA and succeeded as well with all around critical acclaim coming in. Now that he is featuring in his biggest film till date as far as scale, setting, grandeur and presentation is concerned, he is going all out," the insider adds.

With GUNDAY as his next release which would showcase him in an altogether different avatar again, Ranveer indeed is looking at taking a serious shot at stardom. No wonder, Bhansali and co-producer Sunil Lulla are super confident of him as well as the film's prospects due to which a two month long promotional campaign has been designed.

Come 15th November and the results would be out there for all to see.
