Ranveer and Sonakshi's LOOTERA cut short

LOOTERA isn't enjoying a free 'escape' after all. Pun intended. After being made with a lot of glee, love and affection by director Vikramaditya Motwane, the film is now facing the predicament of losing some of its length in the final cut. This is being done in order to keep the film's duration under check.

"At least 20 minutes of the film are being edited from the final cut," confirms a source. "The first cut of the film was very long as it is - almost 2 hours 35 minutes. Initially Vikramaditya (the director) was unwilling to trim the length. Directors tend to get possessive about every scene in their films and get into a dilemma over what to cut. However, everyone behind the film was looking at this from a practical standpoint. A crisp running time would make the film pacy and engaging both," adds the source.

There was a business decision that turned out to be the driving factor. Shorter length means more number of shows at multiplexes, resulting in added footfalls and revenues.

"Vikram still tried to defend his stance and argued that many classic love stories from the past, be it in Bollywood or Hollywood, have been quite lengthy, and in many cases, even three hours in duration," the source continues.

We are informed unofficially that the running time of LOOTERA is approx. 135 minutes, which is just perfect. What makes this even better are the strong reviews from insiders who've seen the film. Who knows? The audience may just end up asking for more!
