Saif Ali Khan: RACE 2 has to continue doing well

RACE 2 has taken a fantastic opening all over with collections on the tune of 50 crores coming in the first three days itself. While many out there would have gone berserk painting the town red with the success parties, Saif Ali Khan, with a head firmly placed on his shoulders, is staying on to be cautious.

"Yes, the opening is indeed quite good. The numbers are heartening as well. However these are weekend collections and pretty much on the expected lines. The film has to continue doing well," says Saif, "As for partying then well, we are all grown up enough to not start celebrating in a ridiculous way, as yet. May be I will have a sip of champagne with my producers for now. Parties would happen in a while though."

During the days of AGENT VINOD and COCKTAIL, Saif had maintained that he likes doing action thrillers more than romcoms. In that context, RACE 2 is a good return for him to the genre.

"It's not only a good return, it is a successful outing as well," Saif smiles, "RACE is like a world that I do enjoy and I am happy that it is also popular in India. It is a nice feeling to do a romcom as well an action movie."

Meanwhile the way RACE 2 has opened, it has also managed to erase the disappointment of AGENT VINOD which was again set in an action mode.

"Well, this is life. There are some parts in RACE 2 which could have been in AGENT VINOD. But then that's fine. It is best to put yourself in the director's hands and allow him to do the rest. I am glad that Abbas-Mustan has made a slick movie while TIPS has done quite well in giving the film it's much required production values. The end result has worked and that's what that matters," says Saif before moving away for another appointment.
