We had reported a couple of days back that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan are gearing up for parenthood through surrogacy and that they are looking forward to a baby boy.
Now, it seems that the radiologists’ association has asked the state health department to inquire into news reports claiming that actor Shah Rukh Khan’s child through surrogacy is a male. Dr Jignesh Thakkar, coordinator for the Pre-Conception Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, IRIA, said that they have written to the state health department to find out how the actor came to know about the unborn child’s sex when sex determination is illegal in India.
In the email sent to the top state health department officials, including state health minister Suresh Shetty, IRIA has asked for an investigation and action against those concerned. However, health experts claim that the PCPNDT Act does not apply in cases were the sex determination was done outside the country.
