'Shanghai' Cleared With A 'UA' Certificate

Dibakar Banerjee's eagerly awaited political thriller Shanghai, which hits the Indian screens on Friday, has been cleared by the censor board. The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has accorded the film a UA certificate, although one scene has been snipped.

Pankaja Thakur, CEO, CBFC, was quoted saying, "Beyond that one scene, we saw nothing objectionable in the content. As for the song Bharat Mata Ki Jai, against which a PIL has been filed by the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, I can't comment as the matter is the courts. It has been cleared by our Revising Committee when submitted to the board members earlier. As far as the censor board is concerned, the song has been cleared."
