Even as there is a lot of juggling around release dates taking place in the month of August, one filmmaker who is standing firm and is sticking to his original plans is Subhash Ghai. His directorial comeback KAANCHI... isn't budging from the planned arrival on 30th August. Well, at least so far.
Though Prakash Jha has moved SATYAGRAHA from 23rd to the 30th August, there is no change in plan for Ghai. In fact taking advantage of a slot being made available, John Abraham's MADRAS CAFE has been pronto preponed by a week and would now release on 23rd instead.
"Meanwhile even Saif Ali Khan's BULLETT RAJA has been moved ahead to November," informs a source, "With every major filmmaker giving his release plan a rethink, it appears as if Subhash Ghai is sure about his plans for KAANCHI...."
It all started with CHENNAI EXPRESS v/s ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI DOBARA clash. Once Shahrukh requested Jeetendra to move his film away from Eid, Ekta Kapoor complied and was quick to occupy the Independence Day slot. That resulted in a juggernaut of sorts with every other planned release in its vicinity getting into a rethinking mode.
It won't be a surprise though if he has a change in heart as well. After all, neither has there been any teaser released so far nor a kick-start of any promotional campaign. Considering the fact that Subhash Ghai had once moved his release date from 15th to 30th, one waits to see if he would be willing to change his stance now.
We tried contacting Subhash Ghai but he wasn't available for comment.
