Washington, May 31 (ANI): Matthew Perry has revealed that the unrelenting media coverage about his drinking problems played a significant role in his recovery.

He told ABC News that the coverage ultimately helped him because everybody in the bar would refuse to serve him drinks citing the reports in the media, Contactmusic reported.

The 43-year-old star secretly battled substance abuse issues while he was at the height of his fame on hit TV show 'Friends', but after the news became public, he had to enter rehab.

Perry, who is now cured, works with addiction specialists and government officials to reform America's drug laws. (ANI)
