Vidya Balan Turns Red, Abandons 'Dirty' Shoot!

It was supposed to be a squeaky clean shot for The Dirty Picture. The repercussions, however, were another story altogether. Vidya Balan, enacting the screen siren immersed herself into a bathtub filled with soapy suds… and found herself covered with red rashes all over her svelte body rather swiftly! A shocked Balan abandoned the Balaji Telefilms shoot and hastened to a Mumbai dermatologist for help.

Sources close to Balaji Telefilms and director Milan Luthria claimed that all precautions had been taken and that mineral water had been used in the bathtub for the scene.

A close source stated, "When Vidya immersed herself in the tub, her skin began to feel rough within a short while. But she chose to ignore it. However, she soon developed red rashes and blotches all over her body. It was a bad allergy and she had no choice but to stop the shoot and head towards a good dermatologist."

An insider on the set claimed that the allergy could have risen coz' "the bathtub was hand painted", though a dermatologist opined that the skin trouble could have triggered off owing to "a high alkali content in the soap" and also could be "because she was exposed to the soap water for a very long time."
